My Video is Buffering. What Can I do?
Buffering (or lagging/freezing) happens when data is not being received fast enough for the video player to seamlessly stream the content. This can result in your picture freezing for awhile until data transfer resumes or cause a 404 error screen to appear. This may occur even if you run a speed test and it shows you have super blazing fast speeds which leaves you scratching your head trying to figure out why.
So lets take an in depth look at measures you can take to minimilze buffering. Starting with the most obvious and also procedures for users of the TIVIMate Player app
1. Check your internet speed and connectivity.
Most ISP’s are providing speeds that support quality streaming. We recommend a minimum of 50mbps download speed per device connected to your internet system.
2.Update your Streaming Device
Make sure your streaming device (Firestick among others) is up to date with any software updates. In the Firestick Settings go to My Fire TV/About/update.
3. Update your TIVIMATE App.
You can do this by going into your TIVIMATE settings. Go to About/Check for new version
4. Reset your Internet Connection.
Power cycle/restart your router and/or modem. Move your router closer to your streaming device if possible.
5. Use a VPN to help prevent buffering.
One cause of buffering is ISP throttling. If your ISP notices high volumes of streaming activity from 3rd party streaming apps they will slow down your speed for that particular connection to manage bandwith usage.
With a VPN you can bypass this throttling. A VPN also keeps your activities private, limits 3rd party monitoring and prevents geo-blocking.
We highly recommend Nord VPN. It has tested very well and is very economical and you can install it on up to 10 devices. Basic should be all you need.
6. Reset your TIVIMATE app.
First, Clear the cache.Go to your Firestick Settings/Applications/Manage Installed Applications/Tivimate/Clear Cache
Second, Restart the App. Go to your Firestick Settings/My Fire TV/Restart
